Project Concept

The Project Story

The Challenge:

This Cherry Hill colonial kitchen suffered from the typical layout constraints found in older Camden County homes - cramped work zones, limited counter space, and poor traffic flow between cooking and dining areas. The existing layout created bottlenecks during meal preparation, especially when multiple family members needed to use the space. Parents wanted better sight lines to adjacent rooms to supervise children while cooking. The outdated cabinets and fixtures no longer met the family's daily needs, and the closed-off design made the space feel disconnected from the rest of the home.

The Solution:

The design team transformed this kitchen into an open, functional space that supports modern family living. White shaker-style cabinets with moisture-resistant finishes were custom-installed to handle New Jersey's humid summers while maximizing storage with pull-out shelves and organized pantry solutions. The layout was reconfigured to improve the work triangle between the refrigerator, range, and sink, reducing unnecessary steps during meal prep. A carefully designed peninsula or island addition created natural separation while maintaining open sight lines to the family room. Marble countertops, a striking black subway tile backsplash, and under-cabinet LED lighting completed the transformation. The new layout accommodates multiple cooks without congestion and provides casual seating for quick family meals.
